FRENCH PROHIBITION

2020 | Poster Series

This poster series was created for a digital printmaking project, influenced by the prohibition era in France. Pulling from French-style magazines and advertisements from the 1900’s, these illustrations keep to the warm and soft tone of the time period, while the subject matter revolves around the 1930’s struggle of stealing a sip of forbidden liquid. “Vouloir, c'est pouvoir” is a popular French saying that translates to “where there’s a will, there’s a way,” and the filigree-style typography poster translates to “Life is too short to drink bad wine,” both quips alluding to the quest of a 1930’s beverage.
